Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic has played down his team’s 2-0 Friendly match loss to 10-man Peru in USA in the early hours of Saturday.
A goal in each half from Andre Carrillo and Edison Flores in the 12th and 49, sealed the win for Peru who were soon reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Yoshimar Yotun after receiving his second yellow card.
Speaking after the game, Dalic however admitted his team was outplayed by the Peruvians.
“Lessons are to be learned,” Dalic was quoted on Croatia’s verified Twitter handle.
“It is better to lose now than at the World Cup, and I have said to my players that we cannot defeat anyone unless we are fully concentrated.
“There are no excuses, this was not a good performance. Congratulations to Peru for a deserved victory.”
Croatia will open their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against Nigeria on June 16.
