- The Nigerian Army on Thursday, March 22, said a top commander of the Boko Haram terrorists group has surrendered - Forty seven year old Ramat Alamin surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army along Dikwa-Gulumba Gana road in Bama local government area - According to Alamin, he surrendered himself because Boko Haram terrorists are presently in disarray A top commander of the Abubakar Shekau's faction of Boko Haram group has surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army. Ramat Alamin, 47, surrendered to troops in Bama local government area of Borno state, the Nigerian Army has said. The director of Army public relation, Texas Chukwu, a brigadier general in a statement said troops of the 22 Brigade intercepted Alamin along Dikwa-Gulumba Gana in the early hours of Tuesday, March 20. The Army spokesperson said Alamin had told the troops that he came to Dikwa to surrender himself because Boko Haram terrorists group could no longer hold itself. Photo credit: Facebook, Nigerian Army Chukwu said: "He disclosed that his personal weapon AK 47 rifle with Registration No: H3 2538, four AK 47 empty magazines and one motorcycle were hidden behind Government Teachers College Dikwa while trying to enter the town to surrender.  "He also said that, many of the terrorists are willing to surrender due to hunger and lack of basic logistics but are scared of the consequences. Alamin said he surrendered because Boko Haram has lost hold of itself. He gave out some information and encouraged other terrorists to take a cue from him and surrender in order to ensure lasting peace and stability in the North Eastern part of Nigeria."
